Service and testing

Ultrasound scans

Ultrasound scans by appointment: what they examine, where they are performed and how to prepare.

Back to Services and Tests

The ultrasound uses sound waves to obtain images from the inside of the body. It helps study organs and tissues; Doppler provides information on blood flow.

CISME's ultrasound service requires an appointment and operates during the stated hours. Check availability and preparation before attending. It is not an emergency care service.

Practical information

What can each ultrasound provide

Abdominal ultrasound

Examines organs such as the liver, gallbladder, pancreas and kidneys. Preparation depends on the area being scanned.

Musculoskeletal ultrasound

It helps to assess muscles, tendons and other soft tissues related to a discomfort or injury.

Thyroid or neck ultrasound

It shows the structure of the thyroid and other areas of the neck. The findings are assessed together with the clinical information.

Breast ultrasound

Provides information about an area or lesion in the breast and may help distinguish whether it is fluid-filled or solid. Its use depends on the medical assessment.

Urological ultrasound

It allows to study structures such as kidneys and bladder. Confirm if you need to go with a full bladder.

Doppler ultrasound

Study how blood circulates through the vessels of the explored area. Complete the image with information on blood flow.

The test must respond to a clinical indication. The result is interpreted together with the symptoms and the rest of the evaluation.
